Tokens & buying
Can I use Apple Pay to buy crypto?
Yes. Several regulated on-ramps and consumer crypto apps accept Apple Pay, and the flow takes minutes: verify identity once, pay, and receive crypto. What Apple Pay buys is a major asset such as SOL or USDC, not an arbitrary memecoin, because those only exist on decentralised venues where no payment method reaches.
What actually happens
- Identity verification, once per provider. Regulated on-ramps require it and there is no way around it.
- Payment. Apple Pay settles like any card transaction.
- Delivery. Crypto arrives, either in the provider's custody or straight to a wallet address you give them.
The trade-offs worth knowing
- Cost. Card and Apple Pay routes carry the highest fees of the common funding methods. A bank transfer is materially cheaper and materially slower.
- Limits. New accounts typically start with low daily caps that rise after further verification.
- Chargeback risk pricing. Providers price in the reversibility of card payments against the irreversibility of crypto, which is most of why the fee is what it is.
- Reach. You get majors. Everything newer is a swap you make afterwards.
